Pact Retail Accessories named as inaugural Reuse Catalyst Partner.

9 February 2023

Pact Retail Accessories has been named as an inaugural Reuse Catalyst Partner with the U.S. Plastics Pact (U.S. Pact). The Reuse Catalyst program is aimed at fostering and promoting innovative reuse and refill solutions in the US. 20 participants were selected based on the potential impact of their solutions on the environment, society, and economy, and their scalability. The Reuse Catalyst was created in partnership with the U.S. Pact, Closed Loop Partners, the Reusable Packaging Association, and World Wildlife Fund.

The adoption of reusable packaging can reduce reliance on non-renewable virgin plastic packaging, while generating $10 billion in economic growth globally if 20% of plastic packaging is converted. The Reuse Catalyst aims to drive the growth of reusable packaging and create a circular plastic economy.

Reuse Catalyst Partners will receive business mentoring, quarterly training, and best-practice support from peers. In return, they will participate in data collection efforts to gain insights into consumer needs and further grow the reuse/refill industry. The data collected will help the U.S. Pact understand and address challenges in the reuse/refill space.

The inaugural cohort includes solutions for refill stations, reusable food and drink packaging, and reusable shipping containers for various consumer products. AI software is also being utilized in some of the refill solutions.
